There is nothing in the Christian Bible that suggests that Jesus never had sex. There is nothing in the Bible that says Jesus wasn’t sexually attracted to men.
Nonetheless, Christians in the city of Modena, Italy were outraged when artist Andrea Saltini created a painting that could be interpreted as showing Jesus receiving a blowjob.
All the painting actually shows is a dead Jesus with a man leaning over him, from an aerial perspective. The man could be simply looking at the corpse, or laying it down. Or, yes, it’s possible that necrophiliac oral sex is going on.
Apparently, the Christians of Modena could not cope with artistic ambiguity.
What happened when Andrea Saltini displayed the painting in a secular museum exhibition demonstrates the danger of extremist religious obsessions with blasphemy. A person wearing a disguise stepped forward with a knife and slashed the painting apart, then slashed the artist in the neck.
Saltini is expected to recover.
